Technological change, where are we heading?

The technological change in the economy in America in the twentieth century hit a surprising rate massively lowering labour work in agriculture. Castells (2009) argues the same thing will happen as the new jobs in high technology manufacturing will be created. It could be said that the rise of digital agriculture in the workplace could lead to the decline of physical farm labour and opportunity in management of digital technology under this field may rise in “technology and automation, with some facing significant changes or requiring a new mix of skills, and some being eliminated altogether” (Lebert, 2019, p.28). In the process, prospect in the advancement of technological design will also escalate. Those who can adapt and are highly skilled in this field will be able to take advantage of its opportunities for progress and development. It could be noted that for workers to stay in their roles, they must evolve towards using AI “as their skill set becomes more sought after, there will also be a greater case for higher salaries” (Jobbio, 2018, p. 6).
